ALS is privileged to have helped some very talented athletes achieve their fullest potential through custom-tailored, athletic-prosthetic designs. We have worked with world-class sprinters, nationally ranked golfers, marathon runners, horseback riders, motorcycle riders, mountain bikers, swimmers, and many others. If you have a desire to return to sports, or simply get out there and do whatever it is you do, we can help.

ALS specializes in, but is not limited to:
  • Running
Our greatest challenge comes from individuals who wish to return to running. It is important to design a prosthesis that fully addresses the challenges that running places on the residual limb and the prosthesis itself. Our knowledge of custom interface design and proper biomechanical alignment of sports specific componentry allows us to fabricate a prosthesis that addressed the individuals needs.

  • Golf
Golfers have specific needs. By working with golf pros such as Don Bigler, the national amputee senior champion, we fully understand the needs of the amputee golfer. Our product engineers created a custom-tailored, rotational shock-absorbing pylon that allows greater tibial rotation than any other rotator on the market. It is called the Dura-Shock. This device allows the amputee to fully rotate the hips while keeping the prosthetic foot planted on the ground. This allows for greater stability and increased distance off the tee.

  • Bike Riding
Competitive cyclists have specific requirements for pedaling the bike. Working with Mike Hicks, an expert triathlon athlete, we have learned how to keep the prosthesis attached to the bike while maintaining suspension to the limb. In many instances we encourage the amputee to bring their bike to the clinic so that we may get a better understanding of the specific needs of the cyclist.
