Our clinicians have helped amputees in Arizona for over 30 years. Each prosthetist is certified by the American Board for Certification. The American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics (ABC) is the national certifying and accrediting body for the prosthetic professions. The public requires and deserves assurance that the individuals providing prosthetic services are qualified to provide the appropriate services, and it was on this basis that the ABC was established as a credentialing organization.
Our team
Kevin Kohler, C.P.
Kevin is a third generation prosthetist carrying on the tradition of the independent facility owner. In 1999 he founded Artificial Limb Specialists with his business partner Michael Pack. His father, Rick Kohler, started Artificial Limb and Brace over thirty years ago. Rick has since retired and Kevin has taken on the task of pleasing his difficult to fit clients with much success. Kevin's patience is his greatest quality. Children to seniors appreciate his professionalism and listening skills. Since entering the field in 1978 he has become well known around the Phoenix valley for his incredible work ethic and clinical skills.
Kevin is a native of Arizona who completed his undergraduate degree at Northern Arizona University. He attended Northwestern University's graduate prosthetic program and is certified by the American Board for Certification.
Michael Pack, C.P.
Michael Pack is an ABC certified prosthetist who has practiced in Arizona for the past thirteen years. In 1999 he founded Artificial Limb Specialists with his business partner Kevin Kohler. After receiving his degree from the University of Michigan, he pursued his degree in prosthetics at Northwestern University in Chicago. During his residency in Tucson, he specialized in acute care prosthetics, ishial containment socket designs, and upper extremity prosthetics. He specializes in myoelectric fittings of all levels and is certified by Otto Bock, Motion Control (Utah arm), Liberty Mutual, and Hosmer. He is C-leg and TEC Harmony certified. Michael has lectured at both the International Conference of Advanced Prosthetics (ICAP) and in the United Kingdom on his trans-humeral myoelectric fitting procedure. He is currently working in San Diego at the Naval Medical Center as a consultant , working with the soldiers who have been wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Owen Larson, C.P.
Owen is the clinical director of our Mesa office. He holds the prestigious title of being the first ever prosthetist elected as the President of the Association for Children's Prosthetics Orthotics Clinics(ACPOC). He is also the longest standing ABC certified clinician in the state of Arizona with over 30 years experience in the field. We are excited to have Owen as a member of our staff.
Randall Whiteside, C.P.
Mr. Whiteside has practiced prosthetics in the Phoenix valley for over 30 years. He was co-owner of Artificial Limb and Brace with Kevin's father Rick Kohler until they sold to Nova Care in 1996. Together they provided prosthetic care to a majority of the amputees in the Phoenix area.
Randy has played an instrumental part in designing new and innovative prosthetic componentry that allows amputees to lead active lives. His "dura shock" rotating, shock-absorbing pylon was sold to a major prosthetic company for world wide distribution. We are excited to be able to benefit from his many years of expertise in areas such as upper extremity myoelectrics, lower extremity pediatrics, hip disarticulation and advanced above-knee applications. Along with Michael Pack, Randy is a consultant to the Department of Defense prosthetic program at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego.
